The loop in four moves
If you have ever played Monopoly, you already know the vibe. PolyBusiness just puts it on a European map and lets you jump in without digging out a cardboard box.
Roll & move
Hit the dice, move your piece, and hope you do not land on someone else's developed nightmare. Simple start. Chaos optional.
Buy cities
Grab locations when they are cheap. Other players pay rent when they stop on your spots. Coloured arrows show who owns what.
Complete a set
Own every city in a colour group and you can develop. That is when rent properly starts to sting and the board tilts your way.
Trade or tank
Negotiate swaps, dodge jail, keep cash for emergencies. Up to eight players online or locally — solo works for a quick break too.
Why a board game on a finance site?
To be honest, comparing rates all day is heavy going. A short break is not laziness — it is how you keep a clear head. PolyBusiness is weirdly on-theme too: cashflow, property, rent, and not going bankrupt. You will not learn the UK mortgage market from a dice roll. Survival tips before you roll
A few habits that stop you going broke before the second lap.
Keep a cash buffer
Do not blow your entire stack on the first three cities. Own half the board with empty pockets and one rent payment still ends you.
Chase colour sets
Random singles look impressive and pay almost nothing. Trade towards completing groups — that is where the real income lives.
Utilities are extras
Public services and utilities pad your income nicely, but they are not a full strategy. Nice to have. Not the main event.
Skip bad deals
Negotiating is part of the fun. Accepting every uneven offer is not. If a swap looks dodgy, it probably is.
A quick history sidenote
The original idea goes back to Landlord’s Game, created around 1903 by American anti-monopolist Lizzie Magie. It was meant to show how concentrating land in private hands can squeeze everyone else. Later variants spread, and the famous commercial Monopoly version took off after Charles Darrow popularised it in the 1930s.
